You Should Actually Care About The Chicago Auto Show This Year
This show actually has some some solid reveals!
The Chicago Auto Show is not exactly the first auto show that you think about for big reveals. Although some special edition models like the Ram Laramie and Nissan GT-R Track Edition have debuted in recent years, Chicago isn’t exactly known for world-altering debuts. This year there are a few important models being shown, though. The list of new production vehicles includes the Chevrolet Trax, Chevrolet Camaro 1LE, Hyundai Santa Fe/Santa Fe Sport, Kia Niro crossover, Ram heavy-duty pickup, and Toyota Tacoma special version.
Of these reveals, the Camaro 1LE is definitely the coolest. Chevrolet is expanding the Camaro lineup just as it did for the previous generation. The current Camaro SS is a very nice car, and the 1LE should be even better. The 1LE will get upgraded suspension and body upgrades. If this was the only thing happening at the 2016 Chicago Auto Show, it wouldn’t be such a big deal. However, there are rumors circulating that Nissan will be unveiling a new model. The automaker hasn’t said what will be shown, but it will likely be an updated Armada SUV. The Armada is extremely overdue for an update having been released back in 2004. A full 12 year is far too long without a significant upgrade.
The Titan pickup truck was recently updated. The Armada is based on the Titan, so it seems likely that the aging SUV will benefit from the same updates the pickup got. While this is not as exciting as a new GT-R reveal, Nissan could surprise us by refreshing one of the oldest models on the market.
