Over 5,000 Hot Rods Made Their Way to the Turkey Run in Daytona

While Chevy-only shows give us a concentrated dose of our favorite brand, there are a few events out there that might even provide more. When you attend Daytona’s legendary Turkey Run held inside the Daytona International Speedway, the huge collection of more than 5000 vehicles provides variety that few local shows can achieve. Hundreds of cool custom Bow Ties on display on the eastern portion of the infield were exciting to see, and was a great source of ideas. Hundreds more Chevys were available in the 1500-vehicle, Car Corral if it was time to upgrade the family ride. It was easy to find something for every taste and budget.

The third big draw for this event was the more than 3000 vendor spaces filled with every spare part imaginable, meaning you could finally locate those dozen or so parts necessary to complete your latest project. Although huge numbers of customs, vendors, and the car corral already put the show in a category all its own, the Turkey Run had so much more. Many watched the restoration team from CMMC Garage build a complete 1955 Chevy Bel Air during the four day show using parts available at the event. The show will be aired later this year on Two Guys Garage TV.

Want more? There was a newly established Restoration Destination with a collection of vendors offering everything you need to build, restore, or modify your car. Many took a break from the auto stuff to enjoy some live music from Quick Time Jazz and the Hub Caps along with a special appearance by “Elvis” on Saturday.

There was a raffle for a 1973 Nova SS in which Carlos Diaz had his ticket drawn and is now the proud new owner. Proceeds from the raffle fund the charitable work of the host club, the Daytona Beach Street Rods, returning more than $8 million to Volusia County charities over the years.
