Heritage Towne Lake Car Show continues to bring a community together
The Heritage at Towne Lake active adult community is preparing to host the 7th Annual Heritage at Towne Lake Car Show on February 27.
The Heritage at Towne Lake Car Show founder Joe Incognito started the car show with his wife Diane in 2009 with the purpose of having a small event for the residents of the Heritage at Towne Lake adult community. More members of the community learned of the car show, and the event was backed with support from Caldwell Companies. This lead to a large turnout for the inaugural Car Show and more than 50 classic cars were showcased. Each year the event attracts more visitors and participants. More than 100 classic cars will be on display this year alone and with the help of over 100 Heritage resident volunteers, the Car Show will go off without a hitch.
This event is one of the only of its kind in the Houston area that brings the same feel as big Car Shows to our own backyard. Incognito shares that it is very important for the Cypress and Heritage communities because it brings residents together once a year to see beautiful, classic cars while spending quality time with family.
“Most of the big Car Shows have been in Downtown Houston, or they’re in San Antonio or Galveston,” says Incognito. “We’ve become the boutique car show for the Cypress area. There [are] so many people that live here and rather for them having to drive really far away, we have our car show right in our own community.”
The Car Show features two main categories that are based on when the car was made.
“One [category]] is 1979 cars or older [and] are considered classic cars. We have a second category which is 1980 or newer. That’s the category where we let the newer cars come in. The newer versions of the Mustangs, Corvettes and Camaros and all the cars today that are considered, in my mind, muscle cars.”
