2016 Queenscliff Rod Run attracts hundreds of muscle cars
IT WASN’T just boys and their toys at Queenscliff’s annual Rod Run, which saw hundreds of muscle cars inject roaring horsepower into the usually sleepy town.
Ballan’s Antoinette Vassallo was one of many women behind the wheel, debuting her azure 1936 Ford Roadster with more than 800 other hot rods at Princess Park.
Bedecked in a pin-up frock, she said the rodder experience was not just her hobby, but a lifestyle.
“I really like dressing up and getting fully into the hot rod atmosphere — lots more people dress up now, which is great,” she said.
“We’ve only had this for three months, so it’s still very exciting. We went to Queensland for this one after I got car envy over my husband’s 1957 Chevrolet. I’ve got the better now.”
