10 Rare American Muscle Cars You’ll Probably Never See On The Streets
7. 1969 Chevrolet Camaro ZL-1
Chevy hit the nail on the head with their 1969 Camaro. Thousands of them were produced with a great performing L88 engine and buyers in the 70s couldn’t get enough of this muscle car. Even today clean versions of ’69 Camaro can fetch a large pile of cash at auctions but if you want to tip the scales the ZL-1 is the way to go. This factory modified Camaro cranked out almost 530 horsepower out of an aluminum version of the L88 engine. Only 69 of these high horsepower creations were assembled by Chevrolet. Some of them were even sent back to the automaker by dealerships that couldn’t sell the cars. These returns were fitted with smaller engines and sent back out to the lots. It is believed that the 69 ZL-1’s might be the world’s rarest Camaro to date.
